Blue Jay volleyball pushes through tough competition!













On September 29th the Jays played their seventh league game against Portland Waldorf. Going into the first set the Lady Jays were determined to put another win on their record.   Starting out strong with great assists from Morgan Grubb, and great passes from Cruz, Bergmann, and LeBrun the Jays won the first set 25-10. Going into the second set the girls were excited about winning the first and ready to finish the match in 3.  The Jays had great serves all around, and especially great blocks from Kim Kinoshita.  Finishing the second set 25-13, and the third 25-8 the Lady Jays won the match.   


The Lady Jays had another match on the 29th against the Columbia Christian Knights.  They started out with a strong lead, but lost the first set 25-17.  Knowing what they had to do to come back and fight for a win the second set, they again started out strong with good passes from LeBrun, and Cruz, and great hits from Bergmann, and Kinoshita ending the second set with tight scores 25-18.  The Lady Jays had one more set to fight and come back to continue to go to five sets. The Jays were tired, but still fought their way ending in 25-12.


                The Lady Jays had a hard match against Southwest Christian Wildcats and had a good game, but lost in three sets.  Then on the 8th the Jays played Damascus Christian; going into the game the Jays knew what they had to do.  They Jays fought Damascus all the way and winning 2 of the 5 sets.  Damascus was not a hard team to play, but the Lady Jays fought and had great hits on both sides.  The ending score in the 5th set was 15-8.


                The Jays had another match on the 8th at home against Waldorf.  Beginning the game we had to play with 5 girls, and the 6th was injured.  The jays fought past only having 5 girls, and finished the game in 3 sets with an ending score of 25-21.


                                On the 13th the Lady Jays traveled to City Christian and played in the dome.  The Jays had played them at home on the 15th of September, so they knew how they Lions played. The Jays won the first set with great serves from LeBrun and Grubb.  Also, the Jays had aggressive hits from Bergmann and Cruz.  The Jays lost the match in 4 sets with an ending score 25-20.


                                The Lady Jays played Life Christian on the 15th.  The Jays had already played the Lions on the 17th of September, and knew what to expect from the Lions.  The girls went into the match strong and ready to win.  The Jays won the first set, with good passes from LeBrun and Bergmann. Also they had great sets from Grubb. The Lady Jays finished the match in three sets with an ending score of 25-15.


                                On the 20th of October the Jays played Open Door Christian Academy at home.  This was an important game for the Jays to win.  Starting the game the Jays only had 5 players, so they had to work that much harder to fill in the missing spot.  The Jays worked as a team and pushed the match to 4 sets.  The Jays had an all around great game, with great sets from Grubb, and good middle hits from Kim Kinoshita. The Jays finished the 4th set with a win and an ending score of 15-7.  The Jays were well supported by many fans to help keep them going.
